Canal Scene, Venice

I'm fairly happy with the painting which is gouache on blue paper. I'm NOT happy with the paper, which turns out to be too thin and fragile or with the scanner which did really bad job making this look right--the paint is very reflective to the scanner light--it looks much better in natural light.

Bird of Paradise Flower #2 (Experimenting)

Bird of Paradise Flower #2 (Experimenting). This is an experiment--I sprayed flat black acrylic paint on the paper of a 5 x 8 Moleskine, opened up to 8 x 10 size (2-page spread) and painted the same bird of paradise flower that I did earlier with pigment markers. It is done in gouache, and I'd say it's a failed experiment, but interesting anyway.

The gouache did NOT work well on this paper. It looks more like acrylic, but doesn't cover as well. Because of the reflective nature of the scanner, it looks MUCH brighter than it actually does in the mole itself.

Piran Alley

I painted this with gouache on yellow paper from a photo I took of an Alley in Piran, Slovenia when we were on our honeymoon there. (Click image to view larger.)
